Established in 2022, North East Interventional Radiology Foundation (NEIRF) is a non-profit organization based in Guwahati, Assam, dedicated to advancing Interventional Radiology (IR) in North East India. Comprising a team of doctors, healthcare professionals, and philanthropists, NEIRF’s mission is to raise awareness and educate the masses about IR’s transformative potential through seminars, conferences, and social media initiatives. Led by founder Dr. Dibyamohan Hazarika, M.D (Radio Diagnosis), PDCC (Interventional Radiology), NEIRF strives to enhance access to IR services and improve healthcare outcomes in the region by fostering collaboration and skill development. Dr. Hazarika’s leadership and expertise in IR have been instrumental in guiding NEIRF’s initiatives, making significant strides in advancing medical innovation and promoting community welfare across North East India.

What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional radiology (IR) is a medical sub-specialty of radiology utilizing minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system of our body. We use minimally invasive techniques currently available in order to minimize pain, hospital stay, risk to the patient and improve patient treatment outcomes.
Interventional radiology (IR) is particularly useful for patients who are in frail health or who have already undergone multiple previous surgeries. Interventional radiologists often work as part of a collaborative team—partnering with primary physician or referring specialist to provide patients with comprehensive care.
Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures have made rapid progress in recent years and has become an integral part of modern medicine.

Our Founder
Dr. Dibyamohan Hazarika, currently serving as a Consultant in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Nemcare Superspeciality Hospital in Guwahati, brings extensive expertise to his practice. His focus areas include Interventional Oncology, Hepato Biliary and GI imaging, and Liver Transplantation Imaging. Dr. Hazarika’s educational background includes a PDCC in Diagnostic and Interventional GI Radiology from the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, India, and an M.D. in Radio-Diagnosis from Guwahati Medical College. He further refined his skills through a Fellowship in Hepatobiliary Imaging and Intervention at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. Dr. Hazarika has also completed training programs at institutions such as MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA, and Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. His dedication to patient care and commitment to advancing medical knowledge are hallmarks of his practice.
